Aurus has expanded its EMV coverage to the United States with the completion of EMV certification for Amex.

Boston, February 24, 2014- After processing EMV transactions for the past five years globally, Aurus is pleased to announce that it has earned the American Express EMV processing certification, expanding its coverage to the United States. This service has been rolled out for one of the largest US based chain of salons and spas that has stores across the world, enabling them to migrate to chip cards in the US as well.

Aurus has more than a decade of experience in the payment space and expertise in processing EMV transactions across Europe and Asia. CEO Rahul Mutha remarked, "We have been processing EMV transactions in Europe and Asia over the past five years. We rolled out this feature in Canada and Mexico in 2012 and 2013 respectively, and plan to expand our coverage in the United States this year. The Amex certification is just the beginning of our commitment to ensure that our partners and clients are equipped to accept all EMV payments. Our immediate plans in 2014-15 include rolling out our EMV enabled platform across all of our 25,000+ deployments in USA and extending this feature to the several other retail chains that we have tied up with for future deployments."

These chip cards, encrypted with EuroPay, MasterCard and VISA security guidelines, provide an added layer of protection by storing and transmitting card data in an encrypted form. When these cards are inserted at EMV capable PIN pads, the encrypted data is read and sent to payment processors, reducing a stores vulnerability to card data breaches. In order to obtain this certification Aurus underwent stringent testing compliances. They plan to leverage their infrastructure and past experience with chip cards to expand coverage in the US and help retailers migrate in time for the shift of liability scheduled in October 2015.
